From Dr. Ron Ritchart's Creating Cultures of Thinking

“Generally the language that we use to talk about what we do as teachers is one of planning units, writing lessons, preparing activities, generating assignments, and assigning work.  However, such language simplifies, obfuscates, and generally misses the point of what great teachers actually do.  They create opportunities: opportunities for engagement, to challenge misconceptions, to delve deeply, to explore, to create meaning, to think – in short, opportunities to learn.  Although a focus on opportunities to learn takes into account what students are asked to produce, the spotlight is better places on the process of that production.  Does it challenge?  Does it require them to think?  What resources will be marshaled and how?   How will information, content, and knowledge be processed to produce something new and original?”  p. 143

This Moodle has been created to provide ongoing support for new teachers to the Fowlerville Community School district.  It is designed to be:

1) A forum where new teachers and mentors can ask questions, share frustrations, and celebrate triumphs that arise through the course of establishing oneself as a teacher or as a mentor to others.

2) A repository for helpful resources and necessary paperwork/information.

3) A link from you to me (Tim) to assure that I provide you with the answers and support you need.
