This course will help prepare the school to develop consistent procedures and practices for students who are Section 504 eligible. The building Section 504 team should plan to work through the course together, reviewing course materials in combination with their own forms and notices, for the purpose of clarifying and revising existing practices. Plan to spend time working on line, in discussion, and developing exhibits. The participants may include building principals, counselors, teachers, nurses, school health professionals, school social workers, school psychologists, teacher consultants, and coordinators of Section 504 at the building and district levels.

This course was developed by the Wayne RESA Essential Elements Achievement Project to provide teachers of students with cognitive impairment with a comprehensive framework for literacy instruction. The framework embraces best practices in literacy instruction, adapted communication, and the anchor standards of the essential elements. 

This course is for teachers from center programs who are participating in the Common Core Alternate Achievement Project during the 2012-13 school year.
